mark romanek will direct the first music-video for coldplay's eagerly anticipated new album "x & y." the performance-based clip for "speed of sound" will be filmed on april 22/23 in los angeles.

longtime romanek collaborator harris savides will be the cinematographer. the production will be designed by laura fox. the editor will be adam pertofsky for rock paper scissors.

"speed of sound" will be produced by aris mcgarry for anonymous content.

the video for "speed of sound" will premiere globally sometime in mid-may.
